Abstract

Deixis usage is crucial for comprehending both written and spoken language. It can be categorized using persona deixis, which enables the analysis of speaker groups or other people connected to the topic under investigation. It serves as a greeting to a stranger or acquaintance as well as a mention of the speaker himself. Take the made-up life that appears in anime, for instance. The purpose of this study is to identify persona deixis and the allusions to it that may be found in Hayao Miyazaki's anime Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi. The persona deixis that frequently appears in Hayao Miyazaki's anime Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi was discovered to be the first person deixis with 46 data as a consequence of this investigation. Furthermore, exophora references with 77 data are the deictic references that frequently occur in Hayao Miyazaki's anime Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi. There were 106 pieces of data in all, comprising 46 pieces in the first person, 44 in the second person, 16 in the third person, 77 references to exophora, 12 references to anaphora, and 17 references to cataphora. Exophora-related first- and second-person deixis are frequently encountered in Japanese, indicating that social contact is understood contextually between the speaker and the addressee.
