A Psychological Problem in Nawal El Saadawi's Zeina

This study is about the main character undergoing a psychological problem due to her past life experience in Nawal El saadawi's Zeina. As a wife, she is marginalized because the community there interpret the Islamic teaching in a wrong way that a woman has no important roles in society. Accordingly, she has a mental disorder. Using psychology of literature supported by qualitative method in the analysis, the study finds that Bordour, the main character, possesses a mental disorder, a psychosis through facing the devil shadow as well as the imaginary figure she creates to amuse herself.
