ABSTRACT Song lyrics are an expression of someone about something that has been
experienced. To express that experience. Each song lyrics that have been made must
have a specific purpose that wants to be conveyed to the public as a listener. For
example, in the lyrics of the song sung by the soloist TULUS, which uses the name of the
animal that is ”elephant” in his song titled ”Elephant”, the song is made with figurative
language or figure of speech and emotions poured by the singer and performed with a
beautiful voice in order to convey a moral message through lyrics that are easy to
understand. The word "elephant" has undergone a change of meaning used as a
depiction of a person's body and used as a nickname in the social environment
This study used the semiotic method Ferdinan de Saussure. by looking at the
system of relations between the signifier (signifier) and signified (signified) through the
signs of writing in the form of text over the lyrics. Based on the results of research that
has been obtained: that the lyrics of the song is a form of a picture of the musician's
heart to convey the purpose and intent of the singer to his audience. The use of elephant
animal names is an experience of the singer who was always bullied as a child. The use
of elephant animal names is always there in every lyrics, elephant animals like implicit
from existing lyrics.
