The Analysis of Structural Metaphor in Agnez Mo's Song Lyrics

Abstract

Language is one of the most important parts of our lives that we use every day because
language supports human communication. Communication is important because it reduces the
level of ambiguity in social interaction. This article aims to explore the use of structural
metaphor in songs by Agnez Mo and their meaning. The theory used is from George Lakoff
and Mark Johnson, which is used to identify the structural metaphor contained in Agnez Mo’s
song lyrics. In this article, the method used is a qualitative method to describe the meaning of
structural metaphor comprehensively. After analyzing the data, it was found that for each
song such as Overdose, Beautiful Mistakes, Patience, Million $ Lover, and Level Up, some
lyrics contained structural metaphors based on metaphor theory.
