CODE SWITCHING IN TEACHING PROCESS AT 4th GRADE SD KRISTEN KALAM KUDUS SURABAYA

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the types of code-switching, and the functions of code-switching in the English teaching process at 4th Grade of SD Kristen Kalam Kudus Surabaya. The thesis writer used a qualitative descriptive research approach. It is normally used to describe and analyze the phenomenon that usually appears in daily activities. The thesis writer had the data in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences, and the data are not presented quantitatively. The thesis writer used observation methods to get data collection. This research was descriptive qualitative research. As the result, the thesis writer discovered there are 115 cases out of 136 cases that have the function to talk about a particular topic, and 21 cases have the function to clarify something.
