Abstract: Language acquisition is a complex process with numerous facets, involving the interplay of biological, cognitive, and social factors. This study aims to analyse the language acquisition of Dean de Jesus Mendonca, a two-year-old child born in the Aileu District of Timor Leste. Employing a qualitative approach, the research focuses on understanding the patterns and stages of Dean's language development within the context of a unique social and cultural environment. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews with his parents and caregivers. The findings indicate that social interaction, the use of everyday language, and cultural influences play a significant role in Dean's language development. These findings provide insights into the importance of environmental support in the language acquisition process for children.
