Abstract

This study discusses gender relations in the novel Terusir by Hamka and Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan. This study aims to describe the gender relations that occur between male authors of different periods. This study uses a qualitative approach and uses qualitative descriptive. The results of the study obtained that women are at a subordinate point that makes women experience violence and become objects of sexuality. In the novel Terusir by Hamka and Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan, the relations obtained are unequal relations between women and men. This inequality is caused by a woman working in the domestic sphere, while men are in the public sphere, as well as the patriarchal position.
