The Teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) requires innovative and contextual approaches, particularly in the development of writing skills. One of the essential text types that A1-level BIPA learners need to master is the descriptive text, as it reflects their ability to observe, comprehend, and express information systematically. However, conventional teaching methods often fail to accommodate the cognitive needs and diverse backgrounds of learners. This study aims to describe the implementation and effectiveness of the RAFITASI method (exploration, identification, interpretation, and production) in teaching descriptive writing to beginner-level BIPA learners. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles at the BIPA class of Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation, all of which were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results indicate that the RAFITASI method is effective in enhancing students' descriptive writing skills. This is evidenced by a 20.25% improvement in students’ writing outcomes in each cycle and increased active participation throughout the learning process. Additionally, questionnaire data revealed that 87.71% of students felt that the RAFITASI method helped them write descriptive texts and encouraged them to think more critically and creatively.
