Pengaruh Penggunaan E-Ujian untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Peserta Didik di SMA Katolik Stella Maris Surabaya

This study aims to examine the impact of using E-Exams on students' critical reading skills at Stella Maris Catholic Senior High School in Surabaya. The background of this research arises from the need for innovation in learning evaluation systems that can keep up with technological developments in the digital era. In this context, E-Exams are seen as an alternative form of assessment that is not only practical and efficient but also has the potential to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test design involving one class of 11th-grade students. The pre-test was administered using paper-based questions with news text materials, while the post-test was conducted through an E-Exam platform using a different but equally difficult news text. Both assessments were constructed based on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) indicators, covering aspects of analysis, evaluation, and creativity in interpreting information from texts. The data analysis results showed a significant increase in post-test scores compared to the pre-test. Most students successfully met or exceeded the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 77 after taking the E-Exam. This finding indicates that E-Exams can not only replace conventional paper-based exams but also effectively improve students’ comprehension and critical reading skills. Therefore, E-Exams are highly recommended as a relevant, innovative, and modern tool for learning assessment that aligns with 21st-century educational needs, particularly in strengthening students’ literacy competencies.
