Leksikon Upacara Adat Mungerje pada Masyarakat Gayo Bener Meriah

This study aims to describe and analyze the lexicon used in the Mungerje traditional wedding ceremony of the Gayo people in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh. This study emphasizes the relationship between language and culture through an ethnolinguistic perspective, thus uncovering the symbolic meanings and cultural values ​​contained within the traditional lexicon. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method utilizing primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through observation, listening, and conversation with key informants, while secondary data were used to supplement the analysis. The results indicate that the Gayo traditional wedding ceremony is divided into three main stages: pre-wedding, marriage contract, and post-wedding. Each stage contains distinctive lexicon such as rese, kono, kilo, betelah, mujule emas, igurun, ejer marah, manat fitnah, and mah kero. These findings demonstrate that the lexicon in the Mungerje ceremony plays a crucial role in transmitting cultural values ​​and strengthening ethnic identity. Thus, this research contributes to enriching ethnolinguistic studies and supports the preservation of the Gayo language and culture amidst modernization.
