Abstract

Swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is one of the crustacean animals that is included in one of the commodities in the world of fisheries that has high economic value at home and abroad. Environmental factors as well as the quality of the waters where crabs live can affect the growth rate of crabs. This study aims to examine the chemical quality of oceanography in the natural habitat of crabs in coastal waters of Pangkep regency which will be carried out in June – July 2023 in the coastal area of Pangkep Regency. This study used a descriptive survey method with random sampling samples. The results showed salinity levels ranging from 21.6 - 29.1 ppt, pH between 7.2 - 7.9, TDS between 19.7 - 28 mg / L, phosphate 0.0040 - 0.0289 mg / L, and nitrate 0.003 - 1.597 mg / L.
