Abstract

Sulamu District plays an important role in the Kupang Regency area because most of this area consists of waters rich in marine resources and a large number of people in this area depend on the fishing sector for their livelihoods. The aim of this research is to determine the small pelagic species which are the main targets for purse seine catches in Sulamu waters, the number of small pelagic purse seine catches, and the CPUE value of small pelagic purse seine catches in Sulamu waters. The method used in this research is a survey method and direct observation. The research results show that the main target for fishing, the highest catch, and the highest CPUE value, namely Flying Fish dominates as the main target for purse seine catches in Sulamu, reaching the highest percentage of 22.89%. The highest CPUE value was 12.64.
