Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency is the largest fish producer in East Java, especially vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). The presence of plankton in pond waters is very important. Plankton growth is influenced by water quality parameters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of water quality parameters on plankton abundance. This research was conducted in December 2023 - January 2024. The research method used was descriptive method. The data collection method consists of primary data and secondary data. Data analysis is used is plankton abundance analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that water quality for temperature parameters had a range of 22 - 32.8°C, salinity with a range of 5 - 35 ppt, pH range of 6.5 - 9.3, dissolved oxygen (DO) with a range of 2.38 - 9.1 mg/L, alkalinity with a range of 32 - 340 mg/L, ammonia with a range of 0 - 2,132 mg/L, nitrite with a range of 0 - 0.11 mg/L, nitrate with a range of 0 - 17 mg/l, phosphate with a range of 0 - 2,918 mg/L, TOM with a range of 2,528 - 113.76 mg/L and vibrio with a range of 0 - 37.181 CFU/mL. The location that has the highest abundance is located in the Kalipuro District ponds amounting to 1,489,821 ind/m3 and the lowest in Muncar District ponds amounting to 124,200 ind/m3. The results of multiple regression test analysis that water quality parameters affect the abundance of plankton (Sig. <0.05). The coefficient of determination (R2) of 86.5669% of plankton abundance is influenced by water quality, 13.4331% is influenced by other factors.
