STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN INDUSTRI PENGOLAHAN HASIL PERIKANAN ORIENTASI EKSPOR DI KOTA SORONG

Abstrak

The increasing demand for world fishery products, the abundance of fishery resources in eastern Indonesia, and the strategic location of Sorong City, have encouraged the fishery product processing industry to run their business in that city. However, out of 28,979 Fish Processing Units (UPI) throughout West Papua Province, only 10 UPIs have permits for export, 8 of which are located in Sorong. To get the right strategy in developing these industries, a SWOT analysis is carried out. The results of the SWOT analysis concluded that the strategy for the development of an export-oriented fishery product processing industry in Sorong City could be carried out by: (1) Strengthening its fishing fleet; (2) Exploring raw materials based on monthly season mapping and raw material stock management planning; and (3) Building partnerships with local officials and communities.
