ABSTRACT

One of the problems in using hand line is that using the right bait can give the best catch. This study aims to determine the best bait from live bait and artificial bait to catch fish on handline fishing gear in Madura waters, Pagagan Village. This study used the t test method with 16 replications for 2 treatments (artificial bait and live bait). The results of statistical analysis show that t count = 5.10 > t table = 2.04; thus rejecting H 0 and accepting H 1 . So it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the catches of fish on handline fishing gear using artificial bait and live bait. Live bait gives the best fish catches than using artificial baits.
