Lex Journal: Kajian Hukum & Keadilan invites interested authors in the field of law to submit their manuscripts in Word format  (downloadable at: Template)

Scientific articles in the field of legal studies must be written in English.

Guidelines for manuscript submission:

1. Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, preferably English. Manuscripts that do not meet the language standards may be returned for language editing prior to review.
2. Originality: Submissions must be original work, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to ensure the originality of the submitted work.
3. Article Types: The journal accepts the following types of contributions:

• Research Articles (6,000 – 10,000 words)
• Book Reviews (1,500–3,000 words)

Manuscript Structure

1. Title Page:

• Title of the article (clear and concise, capital letters at the beginning of words, except conjunctions, bold, align left, font size 18pt, Cambria, no more than 15 words)
• Author’s name(s) and affiliation(s)
• Corresponding author’s contact details (email, phone number, address)
• ORCID iD (if available)

2. Abstract: A concise summary of 200–250 words outlining the key research question(s), methodology, results, and significance of the study.
3. Keywords: 3–5 keywords that represent the main topics discussed in the article.
4. Introduction: The Introduction part should contain at least five previous studies concerning the topic. In this part, the author should emphasize the urgency of the research, as well as the significance of the research. The author also has to explore and combine some previous studies. The reader needs to know the uniqueness, novelty, urgency, and significance of research.
5. Methodology (for research articles): A detailed description of the research design, collection of data and legal materials, and analysis procedures.
6. Result and Discussion:

• For research articles: Should include a detailed analysis, discussion of findings, and interpretation.
• For theoretical or book review: A comprehensive exploration of legal theories, concepts, or cases.

7. Conclusion: Summarize the key findings or arguments and suggest areas for future research.
8. Declaration of Conflicting Interest: Statement made by authors, researchers, or contributors to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research, interpretation, or outcomes of the study.
9. Funding Information: The section where authors disclose the sources of financial support they received to conduct their research.
10. Acknowledgment: The section where authors express gratitude to individuals, institutions, or organizations that contributed to the study in ways other than providing financial support.
11. References: Include a comprehensive list of all sources cited in the article. Follow the citation style guidelines detailed below.

Formatting Guidelines

1. Document Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
2. Font and Spacing: Use Cambria, 12-point font, with 1,15 line spacing. Margins should be set to 3 cm on all sides.
3. Section Headings: Clearly distinguish sections and subsections using bold for section titles and italics for subsection titles.
4. Footnotes: Use footnotes (not endnotes) for additional explanations or comments. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript.

Citation Style

The journal follows the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation, 9th Ed (McGill Guide) for references. Below are examples of common citation types:

1. Book: John Doe, The Law of Contracts (Toronto: Oxford University Press, 2020), p. 45.
2. Submission Process

1. Online Submission: All manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system. Authors must create an account to track the submission and review process.
2. Peer Review: Submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.
3. Resubmissions: Authors may be invited to revise and resubmit their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback. Revisions should be accompanied by a response letter outlining the changes made.

Review and Publication Timeline

1. Initial Review: The editorial team conducts an initial review to ensure compliance with journal guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for revisions before peer review.
2. Peer Review Timeline: The peer review process typically takes 4–6 weeks. Authors will receive feedback and a decision (acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection).
3. Publication: Once accepted, articles are copyedited and typeset for publication in the next available issue. Authors will have the opportunity to review proofs before final publication.
