Tindak Tutur dan Strategi Bertutur dalam Pidato Kenegaraan Prabowo Subianto pada Sidang Tahunan MPR 2025

Abstract

A president's state address is a speech act loaded with speech strategies, each utterance must consider the situation, the interlocutor, and its communicative purpose. This study aims to describe the forms of directive speech acts and speech strategies in President Prabowo Subianto's state address at the 2025 MPR Annual Session. This study is important because the state address not only conveys information but also directs and influences the public through linguistic strategies. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were obtained through documentation techniques by transcribing the speech, then explained based on the theory of speech acts and speech strategies. The results show that there are 61 directive speech acts in ten forms. The dominant forms are advising, ordering, and reminding. In contrast, challenging, demanding, and suggesting forms are used less frequently. The dominant strategy used is the strategy of speaking frankly without small talk. The strategy of speaking frankly with small talk that gives a negative impression is used less frequently. This shows that as president, the speaker has a high position of power so that he can convey directives directly. However, the use of positive politeness demonstrates an effort to build national togetherness and solidarity. The silent or silent strategy was not found in the data, indicating that the state address was indeed designed as open communication, not implied or indirect communication. This finding indicates that the state address is a communication strategy that is firm, authoritative, and continues to build national solidarity. Theoretically, this research strengthens and refines pragmatic studies, particularly the theory of directive speech acts and speech strategies in the context of state-level political communication. Practically, this research helps readers understand that the president's speech is not merely conveying information, but a form of communication strategy that has a specific purpose in directing, reminding, and building national unity.
