Abstract

One of the fishing gears that is still operating today in Pasuruan, especially in Lekok, is gill nets. A gill net is a fishing gear with a rectangular shape equipped with floats and weights up and down. Basic gill nets (bottom net) is a fishing gear used by fishermen in Lekok waters to exploit fishery resources. Bottom gill nets in the waters of Lekok use nets of different colors. This is thought to affect the catch. The aim of this study at the Lekok Fishing Port, Pasuruan, East Java, was to compare different net colors at the Lekok Fishing Port and determine the best results from the basic Gillnet net colors. The method used in this study was the Experimental Fishing method with conduct direct observation of the treatment being tried on the operation of bottom nets with different colors at the research location, then make direct observations of the number of tails and total weight (kg) of fish caught and conduct direct interviews with gill net fishermen base (bottom net) operated in the fishing port of Lekok. If seen from the average number of catches on green nets of 756.67 kg, the average number of catches on black nets is 598.46 kg and the average number of catches on white nets is 425 kg. If the difference test and the average value are combined, it can be concluded that green nets are more dominant in influencing fish catches, judging from the highest average value and there is a difference between green and black nets.
