THE EFFECT OPERATIONAL TIME OF PURSE SEINE ON CATCH RESULTS SKIPJACK TUNA IN PRIGI WATERS, TRENGGALEK RECENCY

Abstract

Most of the fish production landed at Prigi PPN are pelagic fish, one of which is skipjack tuna . With an increase in the amount of pelagic fish production at Prigi PPN, it can be maintained by trying to catch fish using productive and efficient tools, one of which is purse seine. In addition to trying to use fishing gear, operational time also affects the fishing results obtained. This study aims to determine the operating time of purse seine on skipjack tuna catches and to determine the effect of differences in purse seine operating time. The research method used was experimental fishing using the T-test analysis on different treatments, namely 21.00-03.00 WIB and 15.00-21.00 WIB with 16 replications. The results of this study indicate that the highest number was during operational hours at 21.00-03.00 WIB with a total catch of 1,974 kg, while at 15.00-21.00 WIB with a total of 1,254 kg. The results of the T-test analysis obtained a sign (2-tailed) 0.006 <0.05 meaning that the difference in purse seine operating time had a significant effect on skipjack tuna catches. Operational time 21.00-03.00 WIT is a good time for the fishing process caused by oceanographic factors, human factors, technical factors and natural factors.
