Makna Hidup Dalam Antologi Puisi Gema Tanpa Sahutan Karya Acep Zamzam Noor

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of life in the poetry anthology Gema Tanpa Sahutan by Acep Zamzam Noor using Peirce's semiotic approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques, including data reduction, narrative data presentation, and drawing conclusions based on relevant findings. The research data consists of ten selected poems from the anthology, namely "Bulan Renta", "Lubuk Bahasa", "Antara Kita", "Ada Yang Tak Pernah Berubah", "Dimensi", "Kenangan", "Peristiwa", "Mungkin Kita", "Di Teras Hatiku", and "Aku Memerlukan Puisi", as well as theoretical sources and journal articles related to Peirce's semiotics and the study of the meaning of life. The analysis focuses on icons, indexes, and symbols in each line to interpret the implied meaning of life in depth and comprehensively. The results of the study show that the poems not only display the beauty of language, but also become a medium for readers to understand the meaning of life emotionally and intellectually. Three classifications of the meaning of life were found: first, inner journey and self-reflection that emphasize self-awareness, understanding personal experiences, and introspection; second, emotional awareness and acceptance that include facing sadness, loss, separation, waiting, and conflict as well as learning to accept reality; third, self-expression and life learning that emphasize the importance of expressing feelings, remembering memories, understanding experiences, and finding significant life lessons. Icons, indexes, and symbols play an important role in conveying these meanings. This study shows that Peirce's semiotics can interpret the meaning of life in contemporary poetry. The implications of this study can be used as a basis for developing broader contemporary literary studies, teaching literature, or comparing it with classical poetry to broaden the understanding of the use of signs in revealing the meaning of life.
