Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Snowball Throwing untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Materi dalam Pembelajaran Analisis Teks Puisi

The choice of an appropriate learning model is crucial for enhancing students' success in grasping the subject matter, particularly in the analysis of poetry texts within the Indonesian Language curriculum. The use of traditional learning models has resulted in suboptimal student engagement during the learning process, which negatively affects the development of their critical thinking skills. Consequently, the Snowball Throwing learning model is proposed as an alternative to foster improvements in these skills. This research employs a quantitative approach utilizing an experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The findings revealed that the average pretest score in the control group was 53.74, which increased to 79.71 in the posttest. In contrast, the experimental group had an average pretest score of 51.64, which rose to 83.14 following the intervention. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Independent Sample T-Test on the posttest scores of both groups, yielding a significance value (2-tailed) of less than 0.03, indicating it is below the 0.05 threshold. This leads to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the rejection of the null hypothesis (H₀), suggesting that the Snowball Throwing learning model positively influences the understanding of poetry text analysis. Additionally, the N-Gain test results for the control group showed an average score of 0.54, or 54%, which falls into the less effective category, with a score range between 30% and 75%. These findings imply that the learning process without an innovative model leads to limited and inconsistent improvements in understanding. Conversely, the experimental group achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.63, or 63%, categorized as quite effective, with scores ranging from a minimum of 20% to a maximum of 90%. Therefore, the Snowball Throwing learning model is deemed quite effective in enhancing students' comprehension of poetry text analysis in class X at SMAN 1 Klari.
