Abstract

Empowerment of people with disabilities is one of the important efforts in improving the welfare and independence of individuals with physical and mental limitations. This study aims to define the implementation of empowerment programs through handicraft skills, analyze the results of the program, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the empowerment process. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results of the study show that empowerment carried out through handicraft skills training, such as making flower vases from bamboo and hats from wool threads, has a positive impact on disabilities.

In conclusion, the empowerment program through handicraft skills at the Santu Damian Cancar Foundation has succeeded in providing benefits for participants in terms of skill improvement, economic independence, and social integration, however, for the sustainability of this program, further support is needed from various parties, both the government, the private sector, and the community in creating a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
