Penggunaan Joseigo dan Danseigo dalam Manga Kocchimuite! Miiko


Abstract
Gender identity conflict that Natsuki’s been facing in Kocchimuite! Miiko manga has been reflected in her daily behavior and speech that has been deemed opposing to traditional gender norms within Japanese society. Japanese women and men have different style in daily languages; female’s language is called joseigo and male’s language is called danseigo. This research’s purpose is to analyze how Natsuki’s gender identity represented in her choice of language and social context despite of society’s norms within the manga. Research method within this research is descriptive qualitative in which describe how Natsuki perceive her gender through choice of language and words, as well social context that affect variety of language used within society, through gender sociolinguistic point of view. From total of 59 Natsuki’s dialog within Kocchimuite! Miiko volume 35 manga, 18 data analyzed as danseigo and 3 analyzed as joseigo. The rest of data is considered gender neutral and can be used by both gender. Based on the result, it is safe to say that Natsuki tends to express her gender through her choice of language (in this case danseigo) despite society’s norm in which female supposed to use joseigo. This research might opens future research in psycholinguistic.
