Pelaporan Tindak Pidana pada Era Digital: Tantangan dan Peluang dalam Penegakan Hukum di Polres Mojokerto

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has brought about major changes in various aspects of life, including the legal system and criminal justice enforcement. One significant change has occurred in the process of reporting crimes. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the challenges in reporting crimes in the digital era for law enforcement in Indonesia. To identify and analyze the opportunities for reporting crimes in the digital era for law enforcement in Indonesia. This research type is empirical juridical research. The procedure for collecting and processing legal materials in this study is a literature review or library research. The analysis in this study is qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that challenges to reporting crimes in the digital era include digital literacy gaps in society, the risk of reporter data leaks, difficulties in verifying electronic evidence, uneven infrastructure and human resources for law enforcement officers, and overlapping regulations that have not fully adapted to the needs of online reporting. Opportunities for reporting crimes digitally offer positive prospects for accelerating the reporting process, increasing accessibility, handling efficiency, transparency, and opening up space for broader public participation. The use of legally valid electronic evidence is also part of the advancement of the law enforcement system in the digital era.
