Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Lex Journal : Kajian Hukum dan Keadilan is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards for all parties involved in the peer-reviewed journal publishing process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers. We apply the principles of the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement based on the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE) standards. Articles that do not meet these standards may be removed any time, even after publication. Under the code of ethics, we will report suspected plagiarism or multiple publications to the authorities. The journal also uses plagiarism detection software to check all submitted manuscripts.

Editor Responsibilities:

  1. Accountability and Plagiarism: A peer-reviewed journal's editors are responsible for determining which submitted articles are suitable for publication. This responsibility is exercised in alignment with the journal's editorial policies and is subject to any applicable legal requirements, such as those related to libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. To ensure the integrity of submissions, all manuscripts undergo routine screening through plagiarism detection software. The journal maintains an acceptance rate of no more than 20%. Editors may consult with fellow editors or reviewers to inform their decisions.
  2. Fair Play: Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their intellectual content, without bias toward the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  3. Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, sharing information only with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
  4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Privileged information or ideas obtained during the peer-review process must remain confidential and should not be exploited for personal gain. Reviewers are expected to recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the work.

 Reviewer Responsibilities:

  1. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of any information related to the manuscript. If reviewers come across any issues that might warrant rejection, they must inform the Editor-in-Chief. Reviewers should assess manuscripts based solely on their intellectual merit.
  2. Each submission is initially reviewed by the editor, and if deemed appropriate for the journal, it is sent to two referees for a double-blind peer review. Manuscripts are reviewed by the Editorial Board along with at least one independent referee. The decision to publish is based on the recommendations from the Board. Manuscripts submitted by members of the Editorial Board are subject to the same review process.
  3. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts impartially, without consideration of the author's gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, citizenship, ethnicity, or political views. They must also ensure the confidentiality of all manuscript information. If any violations are identified in the manuscript, reviewers are responsible for reporting them to the Editor-in-Chief.
  4. Reviewers should aim for objectivity in their evaluations and express their honest opinions about the work. If a reviewer feels unqualified to assess the research or cannot complete the review promptly, they must notify the Editor-in-Chief and withdraw from the review process.

 Author Responsibilities

  1. Reporting Standards: Authors are expected to present their research results clearly, honestly, and without any form of fabrication, falsification, or improper manipulation of data. Methods used should be described in detail to allow others to replicate the findings.
  2. Originality, Plagiarism, and Source Acknowledgement: Authors must ensure that their submitted work is original, free from plagiarism, and has not been published elsewhere. Providing false or deliberately inaccurate information is unethical and unacceptable. If an author's work relies on others' ideas or words, these must be properly cited, giving appropriate credit to the original sources and accurately reflecting their contributions.
  3. Data Access and Retention: Authors should be ready to provide raw data related to their submission if requested for editorial review. In any case, they must retain this data for a reasonable period after publication.
  4. Ethical Research Practices: Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work adheres to ethical and responsible research practices, and complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  5. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest in their manuscript that may influence the outcomes or interpretation of the study. Any funding sources or financial support for the research should also be clearly stated.
  6. Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All contributors who have made meaningful input should be listed as co-authors, while others who participated in specific aspects of the research should be acknowledged or recognized as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission.
  7. Multiple, Redundant, or Simultaneous Submissions: Authors must avoid submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time or publishing the same research in different journals. This behavior is considered unethical and is unacceptable.
  8. Errors in Published Works: If an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are required to immediately inform the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in retracting or correcting the article.
