Abstract
This study aims to identify the role of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in the development of coffee educational tourism in Colol Village, Lamba Leda Timur District, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Additionally, the study explores the supporting and inhibiting factors in empowering Pokdarwis to develop the potential of coffee educational tourism. This research employs a qualitative approach to reveal the actual conditions that may be hidden (Moleong, 2006), with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation.
The results show that Pokdarwis plays a strategic role as a driving force in supporting the realization of Sapta Pesona and ensuring the sustainability of coffee educational tourism destinations. Supporting factors include local government support, the natural and historical potential of Colol Village, and the high quality of local coffee, which has gained international recognition. Inhibiting factors include the community's lack of literacy regarding tourism management, limited infrastructure accessibility, and insufficient promotion and marketing efforts.
The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration among the government, the community, and the private sector in enhancing the capacity of Pokdarwis to support sustainable tourism management. Thus, coffee educational tourism can serve as an engine for local economic growth while preserving the culture and environment of Colol Village.
